Privacy Policy

Spoken Mind is a product of Treebeard Labs (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how the Spoken Mind app and our website at spokenmind.app handle your information.

1. The short version

The app lets you play games using your voice — the microphone is used only while you turn on voice input, and your speech is processed either by cloud speech and AI services or on your device. We don’t store it or associate it with you. We don’t sell your information or use it to build a profile of you.

2. Microphone, speech recognition, and voice interaction

• The app requests microphone access so you can speak your answers.
• The microphone is active only while you turn on voice input. It is not used in the background. You can turn off microphone and speech-recognition access at any time in the iOS Settings app, under Privacy & Security.
• To understand and respond to your voice, the app uses cloud and on-device speech and AI services, and may switch between them automatically (for example, based on the game, network availability, or performance):
  • Cloud transcription — your voice audio is sent to a cloud service we run on Google Cloud and transcribed in real time using Google Cloud speech-to-text services. This processing is governed by Google Cloud’s Privacy Notice.
  • Apple speech recognition — which, depending on your device and settings, may process audio on your device or on Apple’s servers, governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
  • Google AI — in some games, your voice audio is streamed to Google’s Gemini AI services to power real-time, conversational gameplay. This processing is governed by the Gemini API Terms of Service. Because we use Google’s paid API tier, your audio is not used to train or improve Google’s models.
• In every case, Treebeard Labs does not store your audio or transcripts, and because Spoken Mind sends no account or device identifiers, your speech is not associated with you or any profile.

3. Information we do not collect

• No location data.
• We do not sell or share any data with third parties for marketing.

4. Information stored on your device

Your preferences (such as appearance settings) and game progress are stored locally on your device. This information stays on your device and is not transmitted to us. You can remove all of it by deleting the app.

5. Our website

spokenmind.app is hosted by Vercel. Like most websites, our host may process standard technical request logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability. We do not add analytics or tracking cookies. See Vercel’s Privacy Policy.

6. Third-party services

• Google (Google Cloud and Google AI) — hosts our speech-processing service, provides the speech-to-text that transcribes your voice, and provides the Gemini AI services that power conversational gameplay in some games.
• Apple — built-in speech recognition within the app, and app distribution via the App Store and TestFlight.
• Vercel — hosting for our website.

Where we share data with these providers, they are required to protect it in a manner consistent with this policy.

7. Children’s privacy

Spoken Mind is a general-audience game and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app or website handles information, we will update this page and the date above.
